This historic path with a high landscape value was recovered as a heritage asset, allowing access to the routes that once served as a defence network where horsemen rode to warn of sightings of threatening ships.

Patron Saint Festivals
The town festivals are held almost weekly during the summer months.
They begin with San Juan in Ciudadela, which was the birthplace of this tradition, and are closed by the Fiestas de Gracia in Mahón.
Its beginnings date back to the 14th century and are a curious display of Menorcan dressage. The horses are adorned with beautiful coloured ribbons that highlight the beauty of the Menorcan breed.
The epicentre of the festival is the main square of the festive town where, packed with people, the Jaleo is celebrated; rider, horse and public dance to the sound of a jota played by the local band.
It is something unique and worth seeing. In addition to the Jaleo you will find parades with giants and big heads for the little ones, medieval competitions that demonstrate the skill of the riders, fireworks and much more...
Gastronomy
Menorca has a culinary tradition based on the Mediterranean diet, with natural and seasonal products. Arab, English and French cultures are mixed with what the land and sea offer.
Making the most of it is part of the cuisine. A good example of this is sobrasada, a delicious sausage that, as its name indicates, is roasted leftovers. Also the famous lobster stew, much appreciated today and with humble roots.
The Mahón D.O.P. cheese made with ancient methods is unique, as is the gin, which is a very aromatic gin, a legacy from the English.
A deserved mention for the sweets; crespells, coca bamba, carquiñols, formatjades,...
Curiosity: Legend has it that mayonnaise sauce owes more than just its name to these lands.
History and Fortresses
During the 16th and 19th centuries, Menorca suffered invasions by the major European powers, who fought for control of the island due to its strategic position in the Mediterranean and its port of Mahón, which is the second largest natural port in the world.
Various buildings were built during this period, such as La Mola, located in the same port; also the castle of San Felipe or the Fort of Marlborough.
Two small islands, Lazareto and Isla del Rey, were used as hospitals.
To the west of the island we find the castle of San Nicolau and along the coast various defensive towers.
A visit to the Menorca museum is very interesting to understand more about that period. From artifacts, plans and drawings; to archaeological objects dating back to the Bronze Age.
